HDMI Cores
Silicon Image pioneered the HDMI specification to enable the transmission of premium digital content over an uncompressed, secure digital video and audio interface for consumer electronics. HDMI has been endorsed by studios and broadcasters for the delivery of premium high-definition programming. Silicon Image's HDMI technology includes High-Bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP), supported by Hollywood as the technology of choice for the secure distribution of premium content. Silicon Image was the first company to ship HDMI-based chips and the first to provide HDMI functionality for consumer products. In addition, Silicon Image is the primary author of the HDMI Compliance Test Specification, and hosts four of the eight HDMI Authorized Testing Centers in the world - supporting ultimate compatibility among HDMI products and those licensing the PanelLink Cinema core.
Silicon Image offers HDMI Transmitter and Receiver IP cores which include the digital logic and analog PHY. In addition, Silicon Image is the only company offering low-cost HDMI digital only IP cores for use with an external PHY semiconductor provided by Silicon Image (SiI9002 and SiI9206 HDMI transmitter PHYs, SiI9003 HDMI Receiver PHY). These configurations offer both a lower bill-of-material cost and faster time-to-market at reduced technical risk than using full discrete HDMI Tx or Rx chips.
The HDMI transmitters are ideal for DVD and Blu-ray Disc players and recorders, set-top-boxes, personal video recorders and A/V receivers. The HDMI receivers are ideal for Digital TVs and Deep Color displays, video projectors and A/V receivers.
Silicon Image offers also special low-power HDMI transmitter IP cores and external PHY semiconductors for use in mobile devices. These cores and the SiI9206 PHY chip support HDMI and Mobile HD Link (MHL) format. See HDMI and MHL Cores for Mobile Applications for more information.

Silicon Image is the leading supplier of discrete SATA devices, having shipped millions of SATA-based chips that have been incorporated into hundreds of motherboard and add-in card designs. As a key sponsor of SATA PlugFests, Silicon Image has tested interoperability and compliance against the major SATA drives and motherboards in the industry. Silicon Image offers multiple core configurations: two and four-port SATA 1 (1.5 Gbps) and SATA II (3 Gbps) host and device-side logic cores (link, transport and interface logic) and a PHY core.
Silicon Image offers SATA HOST and Device core IP which include the digital logic and analog PHY. The SATA Host core is ideal for set top boxes, personal video recorders, PCs, Storage systems, RAID and network attached storage. The SATA Device core is ideal for disk drives, port multipliers, storage systems, RAID and network attached storage. For more information on specific SATA cores, click the links below.

VastLane™ DVI Cores
Silicon Image is widely recognized as a pioneer and originator of the Digital Visual Interface (DVI) standard. In 1997, Silicon Image began shipping its innovative high-speed VastLane™ technology, which was later chosen as the technology base for the DVI standard. Silicon Image, in conjunction with Intel and leading PC and display OEMs established DVI to enable a standard all-digital interface between PCs and digital displays. Silicon Image has now shipped more than forty million of its DVI-compliant VastLane ICs, which have been incorporated into PC and display designs from the world's top PC and display manufacturers. Today, VastLane is the standard against which other companies measure their DVI compatibility and interoperability. Now, these standard-setting DVI cores are available by license to companies looking to deliver proven DVI solutions.
The VastLane cores are DVI-compliant and support the full DVI bandwidth of 25 to 165 MHz. The cores support high-resolution displays ranging from VGA to UXGA (1600 x 1200) and beyond in a single-link configuration. Three TMDS ® data channels for RGB send and receive data up to 1.65 Gbps per channel for true color depth (16.7 million) support. The DVI cores support industry-standard interfaces for universal compatibility.
Fibre Channel Cores
Silicon Image offers Fibre Channel compliant cores for high performance storage systems. This SerDes (Serializer/Deserializer) supports multi-rate speeds of 1.0625 and 2.125 Gbps for the single channel version. Two higher performance quad channels versions support 3.1975 and 3.125 Gbps rates. |
