    MHL® technology allows you to connect your smartphone, tablet, or other mobile device to TVs, monitors, projectors, in-dash automotive displays, and a rapidly expanding ecosystem of other products. Developed by Silicon Image as one of the Founders of MHL Consortium (along with Nokia, Samsung, Sony, and Toshiba), MHL technology can deliver ultra high-definition video and immersive audio while simultaneously providing power to the mobile device.  MHL provides audio, video, data and power charging over a single, thin cable.  Being connector agnostic allows product designers to use popular connectors like micro-USB and USB Type-C for mobile devices and HDMI Type A on displays.


    superMHL is MHL’s latest technology specification. It delivers significant mobile advancements such as higher resolution and frame rates along with 40W of power charging and support for USB Type-C connector, while broadening MHL’s reach in home theater connectivity by supporting 8K video resolution and expanded audio formats. Consumers will be able to connect their mobile devices, set-top boxes (STBs), Blu-ray Disc players, AVRs, streaming media sticks and other source devices to TVs and monitors.

    To support all of these advanced features, MHL developed the superMHL connector that can carry concurrent audio, video, data, and power all in a slim, reversible, consumer-friendly design.
